then we award the Sápmi Art grant for the 4th time, by tradition on site in Jokkmokk. Welcome with your application.
ABOUT SÁPMI ART
WHAT IS SÁPMI ART?
Sápmi Art is a new grant made to encourage talents within different art forms to continue their practice in art and also to highlight those who are already established. The goal of the grant is also to contribute to the attention and future of the Sami culture. The 2023 edition of the Sápmi Art award (fourth year) will include a total amount of
100 000 SEK, awarded to 4 selected scholars in the form of
1 x 40 000, 1 x 30 000, 1 x 20 000 SEK and 1 x 10 000 SEK.
WHO CAN APPLY?
All Sami artists who perform within the art types Visual arts/Design, Duodji/Handicrafts and/or Music that are active in the Sápmi area of Sweden, Norway and/or Finland have the opportunity to apply for the Sápmi Art grant.

WHO AWARDS THE GRANT?
The grant are appointed by the Team Lappland Collection Foundation and its board, who handles all applications. The Team Lappland Collection Foundation is also the founder of the new Sápmi Art grant.
WHEN IS THE GRANT AWARDED?
Sápmi Art was awarded for the first time in conjunction with the Jokkmokk winter market in February 2018. In 2019 The grant were awarded for the second time, also at the Jokkmokk winter market. In 2020 the grant were awarded for the third time, by tradition at the Jokkmokk winter market. Team Lappland Collection Foundation will award the grant for the fourth time in 2023.
WHICH REQUIREMENTS SHOULD BE MET?
Sápmi Art is a grant without any specific quid pro quo, meaning there are no requirements on the scholars to deliver any certain kind of work or results. However, The Team Lappland Collection Foundation demand that the scholars must collect the grant themselves or with help from a representative during the award ceremony.
ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
On November 1, 2017, entrepreneur Curt Emmoth from Gällivare gathered a group of expectant people for a meeting in Jokkmokk. The meeting was about the idea and the possibility of starting a new scholarship to contribute to the Sami art and culture. On that day, a historic decision was made to found the Team Lappland Foundation Collection, which in turn has created Sápmi Art, the grant for Sami artists.
At Jokkmokk's winter market, Saturday 3 February 2018, the grant was awarded for the first time to the following lucky scholarship recipients: Lina Maria Viitala, Laila Mari Brandsfejll and Johanna Minde. Together they had to share SEK 50,000.
In 2019, the grant was awarded for the second time, also at Jokkmokk's winter market. The 5 scholarship holders selected were: Per-Stefan Idivuoma, Elle Sara Gaup Oskal, Anniina Turinen & Sandra Blind. Together they shared SEK 75,000.
In 2020, the grant was awarded for the third time, according to tradition at Jokkmokk's market. The 6 scholarship holders selected were: Katarina Rimpi & Mandy Senger, Marika Renhuvud, Elina Nygård, Liv Aira and Katarina Spik Skum. Together, they shared SEK 100,000.
